Krista + Andrew
Hello, we are Andrew and Krista! We cannot begin to imagine the feelings you must have while making this decision. We're sure you have gone through so many of these profiles, and we are so happy that you are considering us. After two years of trying to conceive without success, we took time to reflect on what we truly wanted for our future. What we realized was that our dream has always been to become parents--however that path may look. Choosing adoption felt like a natural and meaningful next step for us. We would love to have an open adoption so that you can maintain a relationship with the child. We hope to have the opportunity to get to know you and answer your questions as we continue this journey together.
To the Incredible People Considering Us:
We cannot begin to imagine the feelings you must have while making this decision. While we don't know you, we can already tell that by considering adoption you have incredible bravery and compassion for your child. We're sure you've reviewed many of these profiles, and we are so happy you are considering us.
We have so much love to give and hope to provide a brief glimpse into the child's life as a cherished member of our family. We promise that the child will always have a home that nurtures, supports, values, and accepts them exactly as they are. There is nothing this child could do that would make us love them any less. They will always know their origin story.
We would love to have an open adoption so that you can maintain a relationship with the child. We hope to have the opportunity to get to know you and answer your questions as we continue this journey together.
With appreciation and love,Andrew and Krista
Our Why
Adoption has always held a special place in our hearts. Even before we began trying to grow our family, we talked openly about the possibility of adoption and felt it could one day be part of our journey. After two years of trying to conceive without success, we took time to reflect on what we truly wanted for our future. What we realized was that our dream has always been to become parents--however that path may look.
Choosing adoption felt like a natural and meaningful next step for us. It is not a "second choice," but simply our choice--a path filled with purpose, hope, and love. We feel incredibly grateful that adoption provides an opportunity to build a family in a way that honors love, generosity, and connection.
We know that adoption begins with profound courage and selflessness, and we hold deep respect for expectant parents considering this path. If we are given the privilege of becoming adoptive parents, we promise to offer a home filled with stability, laughter, encouragement, and unconditional love. We are ready with open hearts and open arms to welcome a child into our lives.
Our Story
Our journey together began in 2009, when we met through mutual friends. At that time, we were starting at colleges on opposite sides of the state, each focused on our own paths. Though distance separated us, it didn't take long for us to realize there was something special between us.
The next chapter of our story unfolded when I had the opportunity to study abroad through Andrew's college, leading me to transfer to his school. The change brought us closer, and our connection deepened as we navigated the ups and downs of college life together. In 2013, we both graduated with our bachelor's degrees--Krista in history and Andrew in computer networking--excited for what came next.
That same year, we made a big move to Illinois so Krista could pursue her master's degree in history, focusing on Southeast Asia, and Andrew starting his career. During this time, we learned more about ourselves and each other, growing both individually and as a couple. Krista graduated in 2015, and we started thinking about our next adventure.
In 2018, we moved back to our home state, where Krista decided to change careers and follow her childhood dream of working with animals. This was a huge shift, but we were excited for the future. Andrew was there for Krista every step of the way, supporting her through the challenges and triumphs.
In 2019, Andrew proposed to Krista. Our wedding was in the fall of 2021 and was a beautiful celebration of our love and commitment. In 2022, we took another big step together--buying our first home, a place where we hope to raise a family and create lasting memories.
Krista graduated with a degree in Veterinary Technology in 2020 and began working at a veterinary clinic. Now, as we settle into our new home with our two cats and a dog, we're filled with excitement and anticipation for the next chapter of our lives.
We can't wait to welcome a child into our family, and we're ready to share all the love and joy we have to give. Our hearts are open, and we're excited for the journey ahead.
Krista Through Andrew’s Eyes
The first time Krista and I met, I knew she was someone special. She was the cheerleader, and I was the nerd, but that didn't stop her from wanting to get to know me, because that's the type of person she is. She will tell you that she isn't outgoing, but she has never met a person that she didn't get along with or had some common interest.
Krista has a grand sense of adventure and is always interested in learning something new or trying new things. I think that is part of the reason why she loves to travel. She is never afraid to tackle a new project or learn a hobby. From crocheting, starting a garden, to being my biggest fan and rival at axe throwing, whatever she starts, she always goes all in.
Watching her play with our nieces and nephews, I can see how much she loves and cares for them. I know she will be the same with our child, and they will always have her to support them and someone to turn to.

Andrew Through Krista’s Eyes
If you had told me as a teenager that I would meet my soulmate before I ever started college, I wouldn't have believed you. But that's exactly what happened. For 16-plus years now, Andrew has been my person: my own personal comedian, my axe-throwing rival and cheerleader, my confidant, my shoulder to cry on, my sounding board, and my best friend.
I have never met a person who dislikes Andrew. He currently holds the title of "Best Husband" at my work because of his kindness, sense of humor, and the little things he does, like bringing me coffee. He greets everyone with a smile and loves to make people laugh. He isn't entirely extroverted, but he is definitely the more outgoing of the two of us.
Our nieces and nephews are lucky to have him as an uncle. When they were young, he was the best uncle to play with and imagine. He is always honest with them, never judges them, and is willing to do whatever he can to help them. I know he will do the same for our child.
Fun Facts About Andrew
- Has a board game collection
- Enjoys 3D printing
- Loves reading and listening to audiobooks
- Likes to go tubing down the river and camping
- Hates taco pizza
What Guides Us
We come from different spiritual backgrounds--Krista is agnostic, and Andrew is nondenominational Christian. While our beliefs may differ, we both share a deep respect for the core values that unite us all, regardless of religion. We live by the simple yet powerful rule that appears across many faiths: "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." It's a guiding principle that helps shape how we treat others with kindness, compassion, and respect.
Though we don't practice a specific religion ourselves, we want our child to feel free to explore and develop their own spiritual path. We believe that finding what brings them peace and happiness is what matters most. If they decide to explore or join a particular religion, we will fully support them in that journey. Whether they embrace a specific faith, choose a more spiritual or philosophical path, or decide that religion isn't part of their life, our priority is to create a loving, open environment where they feel encouraged to discover who they are and what brings them fulfillment.
Our goal is to teach our child the values of empathy, kindness, and understanding, so they can build their own foundation of beliefs, knowing that we'll be there to support them every step of the way.
Mikey
Mikey is our special little guy, and we're so lucky to have him in our family. He's a rescue cat with a big heart. His previous owners moved and left him outside in the middle of winter. Fortunately, he was rescued and given a second chance with us, and he's been a beloved member of our family ever since. Mikey loves to hang out with us, often sitting next to us on the couch or snuggling up in our bed. Mikey also has a soft spot for our other cat, Fruit Snack. They play together all the time, chasing each other around and making mischief. Mikey's also taken on the role of helping socialize foster kittens. He's gentle and patient with them, offering a calm presence as they learn the ropes of being around other animals and people.
Fruit Snack
Fruit Snack came into Krista's work at 6 months old and was paralyzed in the hind legs. His owners, unable to afford the necessary treatments with no guarantee of success, made the difficult decision to relinquish ownership of him. Krista and her co-workers worked with him for months, doing physical rehabilitation exercises, acupuncture, and one session of having him swim (which, in hindsight, may not have been his favorite part of recovery!). Fruit Snack made a full recovery, and now, he's a happy, healthy, and energetic cat who acts like a kitten every day. He runs around the house with boundless energy, chasing toys, exploring every nook and cranny, and generally filling our home with laughter and joy.
Mongo
Mongo's journey to us started at Krista's clinic, where he came in through a local rescue organization. He was diagnosed with a liver shunt, a condition that requires surgery. Thankfully, the rescue organization didn't give up on him, and he is doing great with the right care. Mongo's friendly personality and endless energy quickly made him a part of the family. He loves to cuddle on the couch, but he's also ready to run and play whenever the mood strikes. He is very obedient, eager to please, and loves making new friends.
Our Home Sweet Home
In the summer of 2022, we purchased a newly built home that features four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Upstairs, you'll find the main bedroom and bathroom, a spare bathroom, and a second bedroom across the hall that would make a perfect nursery. The kitchen, dining room, and living room are all open concept, with large windows that fill the space with natural light. Downstairs, there are two additional bedrooms, a bathroom, and a large family room where we've set up a board game closet and table for our game nights.
We live in a small, growing village of about 300 people. The park, baseball field, and community center are all within walking distance of our home, and we're just 10 minutes from two larger towns offering a variety of activities, including water parks. Children in the village take the bus to school, making for an easy commute.
Our Family and Friends
One of the greatest blessings in our lives is the incredible support system that surrounds us. Our family and friends are more than just the people we spend holidays and birthdays with-- they are our village. They celebrate our joys, stand beside us through challenges, and show up for one another in all the little ways that matter most.
Our loved ones have been cheering us on throughout our adoption journey. They are eager to welcome a new child with open arms, gentle hearts, and a whole lot of excitement. In fact, adoption already plays a beautiful part in our extended family and circle of friends.
We are fortunate to have children in our lives who were adopted, and watching them grow into confident, loved, supported individuals has shown us firsthand how powerful and meaningful adoption can be. Their experiences have helped educate and inspire us, and their parents have been some of our biggest guides and encouragers.
In our family, a child isn't just raised by two people--they are surrounded by grandparents who offer warmth and wisdom, cousins who can't wait to play and explore, and friends who feel more like family. We envision backyard cookouts, holiday traditions, spontaneous weekend adventures, and everyday moments filled with laughter, shared meals, and belonging.
Most importantly, this circle is a place where every child is accepted for exactly who they are. Our community understands the value of honoring a child's story, identity, and background. They are ready to embrace not just a child, but their unique history and the people who brought them into the world.
We feel grateful knowing that any child who becomes part of our family will grow up with a team of people who love them fiercely, believe in them deeply, and will always be there to lift them. It truly takes a village--and our village cannot wait to welcome one more.
Traditions
Since we don't have kids yet, our traditions mostly revolve around spending time with our extended family, especially hanging out with our nieces and nephews. We love decorating for the holiday throughout the year, and we're excited to one day have a little one join in on that fun. We also have a few traditions in mind that we're eager to start with a child.
For us, the holidays are all about family, and we're especially excited to kick off a new tradition for Christmas Eve. We'd love to give everyone a new set of Christmas pajamas, a new book, and a family board game. The idea is to spend the evening reading, playing games, enjoying some hot chocolate, and sharing Christmas treats.
As our child gets older, we'd like to give them the chance to learn to cook and have some say in the meals we make. We're thinking of having one night a week where they pick the meal, and we'll all cook it together, with us as their helpers! It'll be a fun way to bond, teach new skills, and get creative in the kitchen.
Our Adventures
Adventure is a big part of who we are as a family. We love exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and making memories together wherever we go. Traveling gives us the chance to step outside of our everyday routines and share exciting moments that bring us closer.
One of our favorite ways to travel is by going on cruises. There's something special about waking up in a new place, watching the ocean stretch out in every direction, and exploring different ports along the way. Cruises give us time to relax together while also discovering new destinations and activities.
We also enjoy visiting amusement parks and embracing the fun and excitement they bring. Whether it's riding roller coasters, playing games, or enjoying the atmosphere, amusement parks are always filled with laughter, energy, and unforgettable moments.Trying new foods is another adventure we love. From local specialties while traveling to unique restaurants at home, we enjoy exploring flavors and cuisines from different cultures. Food has a wonderful way of connecting people and creating shared experiences.
For us, adventures don't have to be big or far away--they're about the memories we create together. Whether we're traveling across the ocean, riding roller coasters, tasting something new, or singing along at a concert, we treasure every opportuni ty to explore and enjoy life as a family.
