Jordan + Braden

Hello! We are Braden, Jordan, and Charlie (our dog) and we are excited to share love and belongingness with a new member of our family. We both work in education and live in an amazing, supportive, and diverse community that shares our values. A few things to know about us:

Family: We love and are embraced by our families. As a central part of our lives, they are excited to welcome a new member(s).

Education: We are both educators and believe in making sure all children are provided opportunities for the best education.

Fun/Celebrations/Friends: Our community is everything and the time we spend with others is a continual celebration of our differences and friendships that make our day-to-day lives even better.

We know you are potentially facing difficult decisions right now as you consider the possibility of adoption. We feel lucky you've read this far and hope you know how appreciative we are.

Dear Expectant Parent

We are deeply honored that you are taking the time to read through our adoption profile. We recognize the journey you are taking and honor your strength. We value human connection and know that a book of words can only give a glimpse into who we are. However, we want you to know that we value partnership and will work with you as much as we are able to support your child's unique history.

We understand you may have traditions and experiences and want you to know they would be brought into our family. We are a family that loves to laugh and celebrate. Our greatest joy is when we are with family and friends.

Adoption is a natural choice for us. We will love your child and embrace them for who they are as they grow up. We know your child may join our family having cultural connections, a history, and we want to assure you that we will support the unique identities of your child so they know their story and how much they are loved.

Thank you again for reading our profile and we honor the decision you are making for your child.

Meet Braden

I grew up in a small, rural town in Nebraska where I was fortunate to be in a home that supported my activities in school including swimming, choir, band, musicals, and whatever else I could fit into my schedule. My mother was a special education teacher and my father worked in agriculture. My sister and I were often outdoors with our neighbors or spending time with friends.

I was a choir nerd in high school and ended up majoring in vocal performance in college. I went on to get a master's degree in education and am now getting another master's degree in social work to become a therapist.

I love to exercise (especially yoga), read a good book, and enjoy time with Charlie (our dog) and Jordan, enjoying life's simple moments. I love hanging out with our friends and family, hosting get-togethers, traveling, and singing random songs that pop into my head. Also, I have a library card. I absolutely adore the public library!

Meet Jordan

I grew up in a small town in the Midwest and spent a lot of time outside, playing, running, and building forts in the trees. Both of my parents were teachers, starting my love of education. I was a typical kid in many ways, a rule follower, excited to learn, and had more bad hair cuts (that I chose) than I want to remember.

I was an active kid throughout school being involved in music, sports, plays, and student government. I've always loved education and have continued since high school, with my degree in Elementary Education, a Masters in Educational Administration, and am currently working on my PhD in Educational Psychology. I currently work with college students.

Now you'll find me running on a trail, reading a book, playing a board game, working on a house project, or cooking to host all of our friends and family. My husband calls me a social butterfly, but I also love nothing more than a night on the couch watching a movie with him and our dog, Charlie.

Our Story

“Our Story” Image

To be honest, it was not love at first sight. We met when Braden interviewed for a job that Jordan would supervise. Braden turned down the job offer (thank goodness). A couple years later, our paths crossed at a brewery and Jordan slid into Braden's DMs. We initially lived in separate cities and started out long-distance. Weekend trips turned into travel experiences, meeting each others' friends, and getting introduced to family members. A job opportunity opened up for Braden that was perfect and happened to be in the same city as Jordan. Braden got the job and we began life together.

Shortly after Braden moved, we began to think about living together and found the perfect house. One week after moving in together, we went to an animal rescue fundraiser and Charlie came into our lives. Shortly after, COVID hit and we were forced to live and work in the same house. Luckily, our love grew during this time and we both knew that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Later that year, we got married on Jordan's brother's farm in a very socially distanced, family-only wedding and have loved growing as a couple since.

Charlie

We adopted our rescue, snow-loving dog, Charlie, four-year ago at an animal rescue fundraiser. Charlie walked in, beelined to the table where we were sitting, curled up under our legs, looked up at us with her big brown eyes, and the rest is HERstory.

It's Charlie's world, and we are just happy she lets us live in her house. Charlie is the most gentle dog we have ever met with kids. Jordan's godson and his sisters are not super comfortable with dogs. However, they all adore Charlie! Unlike other dogs, Charlie has a natural instinct where she recognizes kids and knows to be gentle with them. She approaches kids slowly, sniffs them a little, and lets them take control of the situation without ever getting aggressive or territorial.

Charlie told us that she is so excited to be a big sister so she can take her family on walks around the neighborhood, play in the backyard, take naps together, and have a travel partner in the backseat of the car. We are also positive Charlie is excited for the food crumbs that will drop in her direction.

Our Families

Braden's parents are both recently retired and can't wait for the next adventure. They love getting to spoil their current grandchild and spending time with their kids. While they don't live in the same town as us, they always make the trip for anything important. Braden's sister lives nearby and we often spend time with her, her husband, and our elementary-school aged nephew.

Jordan's parents retired several years ago. They live in a neighboring state and spend time traveling to see their kids and spending time with their siblings. Jordan's sister and her daughter are a blast and our toddler niece never hesitates to make her opinions known or perform a concert for us via facetime. Jordan's older brother and his wife live on a farm where Jordan and Braden got married. Jordan's younger brother is studying to be an accountant and enjoys making music and hiking.

All of our family are excited to add another member to our families and cannot wait to spend time seeing a child grow.

Our Traditions

One of our favorite traditions is Thanksgiving dinner, we always want good food and everyone at a large table together. We spend holidays with our families and make sure we get quality time with both sides. Our friend group has a tradition of getting together for large group dinners which have expanded as couples have had kids.

We are excited to add new traditions with our child. We make it a priority to call our parents at least once a week and set aside time as a couple, too. When we think about bringing a child into our lives, we are excited to build our new normal with them.

Our Promise to You

“Our Promise to You” Image

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our profile. We recognize how difficult this decision is and want you to know that we intend for this process to be an ongoing partnership. We won't always be perfect and we will make mistakes, but every decision we make will be guided by love. While we cannot promise we will have all the answers, we can promise that we will put your child and their needs first.

Our goal is to expose your child to their culture, traditions, and identities, and will ask for support from others in our community who share similar identities. Your child will come to us with questions about who they are and who you are. We promise to embrace those conversations and to never lie about how they came to be a part of our family. We promise to communicate with you based on what is agreed upon, and will provide you honesty and truth.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for considering us.

Love, Braden & Jordan
