Alex + Clifton
Dear Expectant Parent,
First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to look at our book, and get to know us. We can only imagine the strength and love it takes to consider adoption for your child, and we hope you know who deeply we respect and admire your courage.
We have dreamed of becoming parents, not just to raise a child, but to offer them a home filled with love, laughter, support, and stability. Our journey to this point has been filled with hope, reflection, and a deep desire to build a family through adoption.
If we have the privilege of raising your child, we promise to surround them with unconditional love, strong values, and every opportunity to grow into whomever they're meant to be.
No matter the path you choose for your child, we send so much love, strength, and peace as you navigate this journey.
For this child, we have PRAYED. 1 Samuel 1:27
Why We Chose Adoption
We have always known we wanted to raise a family to serve God. After struggling to conceive on our own, and with Alex having some health conditions that could make pregnancy high-risk, we decided that God had his own path for us to grow our family, and that was through adoption. We began our adoption journey with Gladney in 2023.
We both grew up as Christians in the Church of Christ religion. Attending weekly church services is very important to us, and our faith in Jesus Christ is very strong. We attend a very small, but close-knit church in our hometown. The whole congregation has been a huge support system for us throughout our adoption journey. We lean on our Lord through daily prayer to help us through all of life's struggles. We know that God has a plan for us, and we are in constant prayer and belief in his plan for us. Being Christians and having strong faith in Jesus Christ is very important to both of us, and we hope that we can instill those same strong Christian faith and morals into our future children as well.
We have numerous nieces and nephews, but the one thing missing is having a child of our own to love. We are both very loving and caring people and would show our kids unconditional support throughout their entire lives. We also have a close relative who has recently adopted 2 children. We have seen firsthand how love is shown from the entire family to a child who needed a loving home and foundation. These family members have been a huge inspiration and support to us in our decision to pursue adoption. Seeing how the family has shown so much love to two children who are from a birth mother outside of the family is very heartwarming and excites us to know that is the kind of love and support our child will receive as well. We intend to show our child the same love and support as their two children have received. We have a very large family and are active with both sides, so there is plenty of love to go around.
This is Us
We have been together for 4 years, and married for 3 years. We met in March 2021 on an online Christian dating app called Upward. Clifton proposed in October 2021, after only dating for 7 months. We were married in January 2022. with many close friends and family in attendance.
After we were married, Clifton moved to my (Alex) hometown, and we have lived in our new house for almost 3 years now. We live next door to Alex's parents, who have 5 acres of land for grandchildren to run and play.
We LOVE to travel! We took our first trip together after only dating for 2 months. In the 4 years we have been together, we have traveled to 23 different states and 11 different countries. Most of this travel has been going on road trips, but we also love to go on cruises around the world. We have been on 3 different cruises, including one for our honeymoon.
Meet Clifton Jr.
Clifton enjoys doing outdoor hobbies such as gardening, mowing, riding jet skis, fishing, and tending to his chickens. Taking his dog Piper on walks is a good way for him to break up his day and get some exercise in.
Having a work-from-home job allows Clifton to be able to stay home and take care of house chores and tend to his hobbies during the day, therefore allowing time for family and fun in the evenings and weekends. He is always coming up with new ideas to make life more fun and memorable.
Clifton is a kind and compassionate person. He always wants to lend a hand to someone in need. He always puts others ahead of himself.
To his nieces and nephews, he is known as the "cool uncle". He loves to play and tell jokes to all of the kids in the family.
Clifton's love for kids and family is what will push him to be a good father.
Meet Alex
Alex grew up in a small town where she was raised with her two brothers and many members of her family. She enjoys spending as much time with Clifton and their families as possible. In her free time, Alex enjoys reading and doing puzzles. She also enjoys some outdoor activities such as camping, hunting, and fishing.
Alex has fostered a love for children through her career as a Paraprofessional at one of the Elementary schools in her hometown. She feels that her job has prepared her for motherhood. She is a kind, compassionate, and caring person with a gentle mothering personality.
Family has always been the heart of Alex's life. She was raised in a close-knit, loving family where everyone shows up for each other--whether it be for Sunday dinners, birthday celebrations, or just everyday support. She has seen firsthand what it means to love unconditionally and to be part of something bigger than yourself. That kind of love shaped Alex into the person she is today, and it's exactly what she wants to give to a child--a life full of warmth, laughter, guidance, and constant love.
Piper
Piper is a mini Australian Shepherd. She is 3 years old. Piper enjoys when visitors come over to the house because she expects everyone to give her love.
She LOVES to roll over and have her belly rubbed. Piper enjoys being outside to sunbathe. She loves going on walks and going for a ride in the truck.
She is really good with kids and gets very excited when our nieces and nephews come over to play with her.
Her favorite toy is her stuffed opossum that she has had since she came home at 6 weeks old.
Michelangelo
Michelangelo is a Musk Turtle. He is 10 years old and is about 3in long. He is a fully aquatic turtle, so he spends all of his time underwater in his aquarium until it's time to bask under his heat lamp, when he climbs on top of his log to enjoy drying off.
He loves getting his treats, and he has become an entertainment hit and a great conversation piece when company comes, as he is the first thing you see coming into the house.
Our Home
Our home sits on 1 acre of land out in the country, with Alex's parents living next door, owning 4 acres. On our land, we have 6 grown chickens and 6 baby chicks. Our chickens lay eggs each day, which we have been able to sell and make a profit from. We also have a garden, which Clifton enjoys tending to during the day, when he has a break from work. We grow our own foods such as potatoes, corn, cucumbers, strawberries, and cantaloupe. We also have a second garden, which holds food for our chickens. Clifton grows corn, peas, lettuce, spinach, carrots, and squash that he will then turn into chicken food.
Family Traditions
Family time is very important to us. We love spending as much time as we can with both sides of our family. We have a family property that we go to several times throughout the year to hunt, fish, and camp out in tents. We enjoy getting away from "real life" and enjoying time together in the wilderness.
Holidays are a special time of year for our families. We spend each holiday with both sides of the family. Christmas is our favorite holiday. We like to go all out with decorations. Our family jokes that you can see our house lit up from miles away! Alex's grandmother hangs handmade stockings throughout her living room. Whenever someone new marries or is born into the family, they receive a personalized stocking of their own. There are a total of 75 stockings hanging from one side of the room to the other.
Easter is a very extravagant event for both sides of our family, as well. In Alex's family, about 20 little kids are running through the yard collecting eggs. Clifton's family, though smaller, is still a big deal. His mom covers the entire yard in Easter eggs, decorations, and games for all the grandkids to enjoy.
Alex's younger brother is a college baseball player, so most of our Saturdays are spent at the ballpark during baseball season.
Clifton’s Family
Clifton's family is small but VERY close. He has 2 older sisters. He has 3 nieces and 2 nephews. All the kids are heavily involved in sports and gymnastics as well as with their Church. Clifton likes to attend as much of their activities as he can and aspires to be a big part of their lives and a positive role model to each of them. His Mother is a wonderful "MaMa" to all of her grandkids. She attends as many of their events as she can. She also hosts a "MaMa camp" every summer, where she has the grandkids for an entire week and plans many activities and fun memories for everyone involved. Clifton's Aunt has always been a big part of his life, as well as all of her great nieces and nephews. One of her favorite things to do is make all of the yummy, fun desserts for all the family get-togethers and holidays, that everyone goes home talking about.
Alex’s Family
Alex grew up in a small town in Texas with her two brothers. She is one of 15 grandchildren, on her mom's side of the family, who all grew up within a mile of each other. Most of her dad's family lives in the next town over. She has two nieces, who we see almost daily. Many of her family members work at the school they all grew up attending. Her family has gone on many ski trips, cruises, and other vacations together. Her big family gets together for most holidays and special occasions throughout the year. These times are full of love, laughter, and lots of people.
